Time to make some memories, camping in the Lake District
Of the '50 World Best Campsites', chosen by the 'Independent Newspaper' Fisherground is in the Overall Top 18 and in the Overall Top 4 for Children's Enjoyment. Fisherground Campsite is set right in the heart of Eskdale, one of Cumbria's loveliest valleys. Here on the West side of the Lake District we get less rain and more sun than our famous cousins the other side of Scafell. In this quiet valley there is still the Peace and Tranquility that should be Lakeland - but rarely is in the bustling centres. Peace is the watchword on the Campsite too. We welcome Walkers and Families alike, and every effort is made to ensure you enjoy your stay with us.
The Adventure Playground
A children's paradise, with rafts on the pond, a tree house and an adventure course.
Camp Fires
We are one of the few campsites in the Lake District where you can enjoy the pleasures of an open fire, we do insist that fires are only lit within the in situ fire pits, and children are well supervised around the fire, so don't forget your mashmallows and toasting forks! Sacks of dry logs are available on site.
Facilities
We have recently refurbished our toilet block. It is modern, clean, airy and spacious. Includes hand dryers and hair dryers and coin operated showers.
There are ample deep sinks for washing-up. Hot water is free, and always available.
The newly built and modernized toilet blocks boast ample hand basins, showers (coin operated), toilet and wash-up sinks, all clean and well-kept. There is a laundry room with a washing machine and large tumble dryer, which are operated by tokens (available from the Office/Wardens), plus 2 tumble driers, which are operated by 50p's. A family shower room with baby changing facilities. A restricted mobility wet room. A drying room for outdoor wear and boot dryer for those of you who love walking whatever the weather. 2 large freezers (Free) for ice blocks only (not food and drink).
The facilities are cleaned routinely throughout the day and is maintained to the highest standards.
The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway halts at our campsite. View their website here.
